Zoom adds World human-verification badges for enterprise calls

Zoom enterprise customers worldwide can now use World ID badges that verify whether people on video calls are real and unique humans.

Zoom has globally launched World ID for enterprise customers, allowing meeting participants to display “Human Badges” that indicate they have been verified as real and unique humans. The feature is designed to help prevent deepfake impersonation during sensitive video calls.

World, a biometric identity project backed by Sam Altman, made World ID for Zoom available through the Zoom Marketplace on Sunday. The system compares an image captured by World’s iris-scanning Orb with a live selfie and the participant’s video feed before displaying the badge to other attendees.

World first announced the Zoom integration in April, when it began limited beta testing with VanEck Funds. The feature is now available globally to Zoom enterprise customers.

World described the tool as a way to verify that a real and unique human is present during sensitive, high-stakes conversations. It also named Bain Capital, Pantera Capital and other financial firms as initial design partners for its broader identity-verification technology.

The rollout follows several incidents involving AI-generated impersonation. In 2024, an employee at engineering firm Arup transferred about $25 million after scammers impersonated company executives during a video conference. In February, suspected North Korea-linked hackers used fabricated video feeds in fake Zoom meetings to persuade employees at cryptocurrency and fintech companies to install malware.
