Kraken flags withdrawal delays; 23 funding services degraded

Kraken told customers withdrawals were delayed Tuesday in a second service fault of the day; its status page listed 23 of 725 funding services as degraded and noted engineers had identified the cause.

Kraken notified customers on Tuesday that withdrawals were delayed, marking a second service fault the exchange disclosed that day. The alert was posted shortly after 2 p.m. UTC and the status board showed 23 of 725 funding services listed as degraded. Kraken said engineers had identified the cause but provided no timeline, no list of affected tokens and no technical details.

Funding refers to deposits and withdrawals. Trading, the exchange website and market data feeds remained operational during the disruption. The status page included the message: “We are aware of a temporary hiccup affecting withdrawals, which may be briefly delayed at this time.” The page directed customers to follow updates on Kraken’s social feed.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kraken flagged that account balance histories had become stale. Daily balance figures have since recovered while hourly figures remain behind.

A separate incident on Sept. 4 remains open on the status board after the exchange paused deposits across more than 20 blockchain networks, including Cosmos (ATOM) and Celestia (TIA). Kraken has not indicated whether Tuesday’s delays are a new fault or related to the September incident.

Customers seeking immediate transfers may face delays but can still place trades and access market information on the platform. Kraken has not published a scope of affected tokens or a timeline for resolution; engineers identified the cause but the company has not described corrective steps.

Parent company Payward is integrating services with Nasdaq and the London Stock Exchange and is preparing offerings of tokenized London stocks to investors in 110 countries. Payward has postponed a public listing, now targeting 2027.

Kraken’s status board remains the primary public source for updates. Whether additional networks will be affected or whether fixes will require extended time is unknown until the exchange posts more details.
