Aviva Investors Tokenizes $29B Fund Shares on XRP Ledger

Aviva Investors has launched a tokenized share class for its £22 billion ($29.4 billion) Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, allowing investors to access the fund through blockchain-based shares.

Aviva Investors launched the share class Monday in a joint announcement with Ripple. The Sterling Liquidity Fund is the asset manager’s largest fund by assets under management.

Aviva invested £50 million in the new tokenized share class. About £86 million is now invested across the firm’s two tokenized fund offerings, according to the announcement. Ripple also invested in Zilo and Licuido to expand tokenization infrastructure on the XRP Ledger.

The Sterling fund is Aviva Investors’ second fund with a tokenized share class on the XRP Ledger. In July, the asset manager added its U.S. dollar Liquidity Fund to the blockchain network.

The offerings are part of a broader collaboration between Aviva Investors and Ripple to bring additional tokenized funds to the XRP Ledger. Tokenization records fund shares as digital assets on a blockchain, allowing ownership and transactions to be handled digitally.

The XRP Ledger ranked ninth among blockchain networks for tokenized assets, with about $642 million in distributed real-world assets and approximately 2,900 unique holders, according to RWA.xyz data.
