World Expands Agentkit as AI Agents Buy Hats in 4 Countries
World expanded Agentkit access on June 24, letting AI agents link to verified World IDs. In a pilot, agents purchased 500 limited-edition hats across the U.S., Germany, Japan and the U.K.
On June 24, World expanded access to Agentkit, a developer framework that links AI agents to verified World IDs. In a pilot, agents completed purchases of 500 limited-edition “Human in the Loop” hats in the United States, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom.
Agentkit connects AI agents to World’s biometric identity layer and to the company’s payment infrastructure. World released an Agentkit beta in March with partners including Coinbase and Cloudflare, then included the technology in its World ID 4.0 protocol upgrade.
Developers and services can set up Agentkit when a user has a verified World ID, the World mobile app and a compatible AI agent platform such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Hermes or Openclaw. Users link proof of humanness through World’s Toolrouter to generate an API key; World estimates the process takes a few minutes.
In the pilot, agents tracked a product launch, confirmed their owners’ verified status, navigated the seller’s storefront and completed purchases. Because the storefront used Agentkit, the platform enforced a one-item-per-person limit across international orders, including purchases made in the U.S., Germany, Japan and the U.K.
Agentkit is tied to a payments rail called x402 to enable human-backed agents to execute stablecoin micropayments. Earlier integrations added developer connections with infrastructure and enterprise tools such as Vercel, Okta, Box and Browserbase to support agent workflows across web and enterprise environments.
Company officials wrote that the pilot demonstrated platforms can accept automated buyers while limiting large-scale inventory grabs by resale bots. In a statement, World said, “By verifying that each agent maps back to a unique, verified individual, platforms can allow automated buyers without risking inventory depletion by automated resale bots.”
World described Agentkit as part of an effort to let AI agents act on behalf of people across digital services by tying each agent to a verified identity and a payment rail.
