Whale Stakes $32.9M in HYPE After FalconX Transfer
A whale received 557,902 HYPE (about $32.87 million) from FalconX and staked the entire amount on Hyperliquid. HYPE trades about 24% below its June 16 high of $76.67.
On-chain data flagged the transfer Saturday, tracing 557,902 HYPE from FalconX into a wallet that immediately staked the full balance on Hyperliquid. FalconX is a liquidity and execution venue and prime broker for institutional clients; transfers routed through its infrastructure often reflect over-the-counter transactions rather than open-market purchases.
HYPE traded in the $56 to $59 range on Saturday, roughly 24% below its June 16 all-time high of $76.67. The token has gained more than 130% year-to-date. Total staked HYPE on Hyperliquid has risen toward 436 million tokens as staking activity increased.
Staking on Hyperliquid supports the exchange’s validator security and governance framework, which the platform expanded last year. Stakers typically receive a share of trading fees. Tokens locked in staking contracts are removed from immediate circulation, which can affect liquidity when many holders stake.
Institutional staking activity on Hyperliquid has continued in recent months. Asset manager Bitwise placed about $114 million of HYPE into staking last month tied to its spot HYPE ETF. Hyperliquid’s order book, matching engine and staking layer run on a purpose-built blockchain rather than on top of a general-purpose smart contract platform. That architecture allows execution speeds closer to centralized venues while settling trades onchain and has attracted both retail and institutional order flow.
