Sui launches zero-fee stablecoin transfers on mainnet
Sui enabled gasless transfers for seven stablecoins on its mainnet, allowing users to send USDsui, SuiUSDe, AUSD, FDUSD, USDB, USDC and USDY without paying transaction fees.
Sui has launched zero-fee transfers for seven stablecoins on its mainnet, allowing users to send any amount of USDsui, SuiUSDe, AUSD, FDUSD, USDB, USDC and USDY without paying gas fees. The feature is live on Sui’s mainnet and removes the need for users to hold the network’s base token to cover transaction costs when sending those tokens.
The gasless transfers apply only to the seven named stablecoins and cover token-to-token transfers on Sui’s mainnet. Previously, users had to keep a small balance of the base token to complete transfers. Under the new setting, the network will not charge gas for these stablecoin transfers, reducing a common friction point for on-chain payments.
Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs, described the update as a “game-changer” and said scalable blockchains could replace traditional payment networks. He also said payments should feel simple and predictable for users and businesses and predicted that automated systems, including AI agents, would adopt lower-cost on-chain rails rather than slower, fee-bearing traditional systems.
Sui’s stablecoin rails have processed more than $1 trillion in transactions since August 2025. Despite that transaction volume, the market supply of some stablecoins on Sui remains modest: Sui’s native stablecoin recently passed roughly $75 million in market capitalization, and the amount of USDC issued on Sui is under $400 million, representing less than 1% of USDC’s total market cap.
Mysten Labs, the team behind Sui, has focused on features intended to simplify stablecoin payments and improve the user experience on a network designed for high scalability. The zero-fee option targets both individual users and automated payment systems that execute transfers programmatically. The change is limited to transfers of the seven listed stablecoins on the Sui mainnet and does not affect other token types or networks.
