Strategy Sells 32 BTC to Fund Preferred Dividends

Strategy sold 32 BTC between May 26 and May 31 for about $2.5 million, roughly $77,135 per coin, to fund preferred stock dividends, its first disclosed bitcoin sale since Dec. 2022.

Strategy sold 32 bitcoin between May 26 and May 31, 2026, generating about $2.5 million at an average price of $77,135 per coin, the firm disclosed in a Form 8-K filed June 1. The filing states the sale was to fund cash distributions on its preferred stock series and coincides with dividend payments due June 30.

The board declared dividends on May 30 that are payable June 30. The filing lists the per-share amounts as: STRF $2.50 for the quarter ending June 30; STRC $0.9583 for the month ending June 30 with a variable rate held at 11.50% effective June 1; STRK $2.00 for the quarter ending June 30; STRD $2.50 for the quarter ending June 30; and STRE €2.50 for the quarter ending June 30.

Strategy established a U.S. dollar reserve in December 2025 to cover preferred dividends and interest. That reserve held $900 million as of May 31, 2026, according to the filing.

As of May 31, Strategy held 843,706 bitcoin acquired for about $63.87 billion, implying an average purchase price of roughly $75,699 per coin. The 32-coin sale represents a small fraction of the firm’s total holdings.

Between May 26 and May 31, Strategy also sold 801,994 shares of its common stock, generating about $128.3 million in net proceeds under an at-the-market offering program. The filing lists more than $51 billion of remaining combined capacity across the at-the-market and preferred stock programs.

The filing records that Strategy made its first bitcoin purchase in August 2020 at about $11,652 per coin and has reported more than 110 purchases since then. Outside a 704-coin sale in December 2022 for tax reasons, the company had not publicly disclosed bitcoin liquidations until the late-May transactions.

The Form 8-K notes that after the filing was made public, bitcoin’s market price reached an intraday low of $71,866.
