Kraken adds AI investing assistant to mobile app

Kraken updates its mobile app with an AI assistant that suggests goal-based portfolios and recommends trades that users must approve.

Kraken announced an update to its mobile app that adds an AI investing assistant designed to suggest portfolios based on users’ financial goals and risk tolerance and to recommend trades that require user approval.

Users will begin by entering specific goals and preferences so the app can shape its interface and suggestions around objectives such as buying a home, saving for retirement or building an emergency fund. Kraken said the redesign is intended to guide users through goal-based investing rather than rely on complex trading tools.

Kraken described the feature as a “financial intelligence” layer that monitors markets, identifies investment opportunities and flags recommended trades. The system uses a user’s stated risk tolerance, funding preferences and financial profile to generate a suggested portfolio. Users can review and change suggested allocations before committing funds.

The company emphasized the assistant will not execute trades autonomously. Every recommendation requires explicit user approval before any transaction is placed.

Once users have invested, the app will provide ongoing, personalized portfolio updates and investment suggestions tailored to each user’s holdings. Kraken positioned the tool as decision support to help investors track market developments and potential opportunities while keeping trading authority with the user.

Kamo Asatryan, Kraken’s chief data officer, described the intent: ‘There’s an opportunity for everyday people to become high-frequency traders and do so using plain English,’ highlighting the assistant’s natural-language capabilities.

The introduction follows a wider industry trend of crypto exchanges and fintech firms embedding AI into trading and payments products. Platforms have launched marketplaces for autonomous AI agents, tools that let AI make payments and trade, and upgrades that allow users to connect third-party AI assistants to analyze markets, backtest strategies and place orders via natural-language prompts. Those platforms also require users to approve trades before execution, and reports indicate agent-driven payment activity has grown substantially on major networks.

Kraken framed the assistant as an enhancement to its mobile experience and part of competition among exchanges to offer more personalized investing tools beyond simple buy-and-sell functions. The company has been adding data-driven features aimed at broadening appeal to retail users, converting stated goals and risk settings into concrete portfolio suggestions while keeping final trading authority with account holders.
