Kalshi leads World Cup prediction markets as trading hits record

Kalshi partnered with FIFA-linked ADI Predictstreet; weekly prediction trading reached $14.5B, outstanding bets hit $1.6B and Kalshi held 62% of last week’s volume.

Kalshi has partnered with ADI Predictstreet, a Gibraltar-licensed platform with a sponsorship link to FIFA, to expand its presence at the World Cup. The two firms will display joint branding in stadiums, on television and online as the tournament moves into the knockout stage.

Venture firm Andreessen Horowitz reported that weekly trading across prediction markets climbed to $14.5 billion. The value of outstanding bets reached $1.6 billion for the week, the third consecutive weekly record, based on data from the Artemis tracking service.

Artemis data showed Kalshi accounted for 62% of last week’s sports-related trading volume. Polymarket held 28% of volume. Other exchanges recorded rapid growth: Rothera, which began receiving routed wagers from Robinhood in late May, rose to $805 million in weekly trading from $2.1 million previously.

Analysts at Bernstein have projected that the expanded 48-team World Cup schedule, with 104 matches and roughly 60% more bettable events than past tournaments, could produce more than $3 billion in additional handle for sportsbooks and trading platforms over the competition.

Marketing activity around prediction markets increased during the tournament. Polymarket ran advertisements featuring rapper Future, and Kalshi ran creative highlighting players including Croatia’s Luka Modrić. Both firms and ADI Predictstreet plan on-air and in-stadium activations tied to World Cup broadcasts.

Commercial entrants are adding new products and routing arrangements. DraftKings announced the launch of a prediction market called DKeX and said its DraftKings Predictions product is expected to grow in the coming weeks. Coinbase and Robinhood have accelerated rollouts of prediction services by routing orders to partner exchanges and promoting features to their users.

Artemis’ coverage includes multiple platforms and shows a market concentrated around a few exchanges while newer entrants post uneven but rapid growth. The week’s trading figures reflect strong activity across match outcomes, player performance markets and broader tournament events.
