JPMorgan Expands JPM Coin To Ethereum For Institutions
JPMorgan Chase is expanding its JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum for approved institutional clients, while the timing of the deployment remains undisclosed.
JPM Coin represents U.S. dollar deposits held at JPMorgan and allows eligible clients to transfer funds within seconds, around the clock.
Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs at JPMorgan, said crypto companies could use the token for blockchain-based payments. Financial institutions could use it to settle trades and post collateral.
Landriault attributed the choice of Ethereum to its liquidity and existing use among JPMorgan clients. Although JPM Coin will be issued on a public blockchain, access will remain limited to approved institutional participants.
The Ethereum expansion follows JPMorgan’s launch of JPM Coin on Base in November 2025. Base is an Ethereum layer-2 network developed by cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. JPMorgan said at the time that it planned to support additional public blockchains.
In January 2026, JPMorgan announced plans to bring JPM Coin to the Canton Network, a blockchain designed for financial institutions. The bank has not disclosed further details about the timing or scope of the Ethereum deployment.
JPM Coin is part of JPMorgan’s Kinexys digital-assets platform, which provides blockchain-based payment and settlement services for institutional clients. The token is backed by deposits held at JPMorgan and is separate from publicly traded cryptocurrencies.
