JD Vance Reports $250K-$500K in Coinbase Bitcoin

Vice President JD Vance reported holding $250,001 to $500,000 in bitcoin on Coinbase in his 2025 OGE financial disclosure.

An Office of Government Ethics Form 278e for the 2025 reporting year shows Vice President JD Vance holds between $250,001 and $500,000 in bitcoin on Coinbase. The asset is listed under Part 6, Other Assets and Income, and the filing reports either no income from the holding or income under $200.

OGE rules require values to be reported in broad brackets. The filing does not state how many bitcoins Vance owns, when they were bought or the current market value.

Vance’s bitcoin position has increased since he first reported crypto holdings. As a 2022 Senate candidate he listed a Coinbase bitcoin holding worth $100,001 to $250,000. In his 2024 vice presidential nominee filing the range rose to $250,000 to $500,000 and it remains at that level in the 2025 filing.

At the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas, Vance told attendees, “I was one of the only candidates running for office who actually owned bitcoin when I ran for Senate. I still own a fair amount of bitcoin today.”

The bitcoin holding is part of a larger portfolio. The filing lists total reported assets between about $6.1 million and $22 million or more. Major positions include exchange-traded funds held through Charles Schwab, with the Invesco QQQ Trust and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF each reported in the $1 million to $5 million range. The filing also lists a promissory note tied to Narya Capital Management at $1 million to $5 million.

Other assets include real estate in Washington, D.C., smaller properties in Ohio and Kentucky, retirement accounts, 529 college savings plans and royalties from the book Hillbilly Elegy. On the liability side Vance reports a mortgage with Navy Federal Credit Union valued at $250,000 to $500,000 and a line of credit with Charles Schwab.

The bitcoin position is custodial and held on a regulated exchange. President Donald Trump’s disclosure, released with the same batch, lists more than $50 million in self-custodied bitcoin held in cold storage and more than $1 billion in crypto-related revenue and proceeds.

OGE annual filings cover the prior calendar year and are typically due in May; the 2025 filings were made public in late June 2026. The disclosures provide a record of personal crypto holdings and the custody arrangements reported to federal ethics officials.
