CoinShares launches Bitcoin mining ETF on Deutsche Boerse Xetra

CoinShares launched a UCITS Bitcoin mining ETF on Deutsche Boerse Xetra Tuesday under ticker MINE, tracking a rules-based index of publicly listed Bitcoin miners.

CoinShares launched its first European UCITS exchange-traded fund for Bitcoin mining on Deutsche Boerse Xetra on Tuesday. The Irish-domiciled fund trades under the ticker MINE and follows the CoinShares Bitcoin Mining Index, a rules-based basket of publicly listed Bitcoin miners administered by Solactive AG.

The ETF is physically replicated, meaning it holds the underlying company shares rather than using derivatives. It carries a total expense ratio of 0.65% and will rebalance quarterly according to the index rules.

The UCITS structure allows the fund to be marketed across the European Union under harmonized regulations for investment funds. The listing gives investors regulated access to companies that operate Bitcoin mining rigs rather than to Bitcoin itself.

CoinShares already offers a similar product in the United States, the CoinShares Bitcoin Mining ETF (ticker WGMI), which has about $343.6 million in net assets.

On its first day of trading the ETF was last quoted at 19.50 euros per share on Xetra. Trading data showed 60 units exchanged hands for a reported turnover of 1,184 euros.
