Coinbase plans to increase its Singapore staff from about 150 to roughly 200 by the end of 2026, the company’s country director confirmed. The new office at One Raffles Quay will add roles in engineering, customer service, relationship management and institutional sales.
Hassan Ahmed, Coinbase’s country director for Singapore, told an interviewer that hiring will prioritise engineers and client-facing staff to support retail and institutional customers. The additional hires are scheduled to be in place by the close of 2026.
Ahmed described Singapore as an increasingly strategic hub for cryptocurrency innovation and said the local team will support product development and institutional engagement across the region.
Coinbase received a major payment institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore in October 2023, a licence that allows the firm to expand services to individuals and institutions in Singapore. The MAS regulates digital payment token service providers and listed 38 licensed entities as of this year.
Regulatory requirements tightened in 2025, a change that prompted some unlicensed digital-asset firms to leave the market. Coinbase’s licensing and planned hires come as firms adjust to the stronger local rules and position to serve compliant institutional demand.
Coinbase did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
