Cleanspark Buys 454 BTC, Treasury Now 13,924 BTC
Cleanspark bought 454 BTC for about $29 million on July 7 at an average near $64,000, raising its treasury to 13,924 BTC while public miners sold 32,000+ BTC in Q1 2026.
Cleanspark purchased 454 bitcoin on July 7 for roughly $29 million, with an average price near $64,000 per coin, bringing its reported treasury to 13,924 BTC.
The acquisition was tracked on-chain and moves the Las Vegas-based miner closer to 14,000 BTC, placing it among the largest holders in the publicly listed mining sector.
Publicly traded miners sold more than 32,000 BTC in the first quarter of 2026. Marathon Digital accounted for over 20,800 BTC of those sales, citing debt repayment and funding for expansion projects.
Cleanspark reported a net loss of $378.3 million for its fiscal second quarter ended March 31, driven mainly by a $224.1 million non-cash loss from the fair-value accounting of its bitcoin holdings. At quarter end the company held about $925.2 million in bitcoin and $260.3 million in cash.
Accounting rules require miners to mark bitcoin holdings to market each reporting period, which produces unrealized gains or losses as prices change. A larger bitcoin treasury increases the dollar amount subject to those mark-to-market swings.
The company has described its purchases as opportunistic and typically adds coins during periods of market weakness rather than at price peaks. The July 7 buy is consistent with that stated approach.
The purchase increases Cleanspark’s publicly reported crypto holdings at a time when many peers are reducing theirs as the mining sector adjusts to current market conditions.
