Cardsmiths, America250 release crypto-redeemable 250th cards

Cardsmiths and America250 released Currency Series 6, a 120+ card set with packs serial-numbered to 1,776 and random redemption cards redeemable for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin or Litecoin.

Cardsmiths and America250 released Currency Series 6, a trading card collection of more than 120 cards tied to the U.S. semiquincentennial. Limited-edition packs are individually serial-numbered to 1,776 and include randomly inserted redemption cards that can be exchanged for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin or Litecoin.

The set was developed by trading card maker Cardsmiths in collaboration with America250, the congressionally established organization coordinating the nation’s 250th anniversary activities. The release is timed to coincide with the semiquincentennial of the Declaration of Independence.

Currency Series 6 includes 90 base cards and over 120 unique designs that depict historical figures, currencies, markets and cultural influences that shaped American and global economies. Contributing artists include street artist Mr. Brainwash and illustrators Jon McTavish and Thomas Zahler.

Specialty packaging is limited and each box is individually serial-numbered up to 1,776, a reference to the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. Cardsmiths is selling two-pack collector boxes starting at $37.

Cardsmiths continues to place crypto-redeemable inserts at random. In prior releases, collectors have discovered redemption cards in packs sold for as little as $13 at major retailers. Redemption cards in Currency Series 6 can be exchanged for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin or Dogecoin.

Top prizes in the series include a full Bitcoin and a full Ethereum token. At launch, one Bitcoin was valued at about $66,600 and one Ethereum at about $1,900.

In a company statement, Cardsmiths co-founder and CEO Steve Loney described the release as linking collectible storytelling with modern digital assets.

America250’s involvement positions the release among the projects and events organized for the 250th anniversary.
