Bitcoin hovered near $60,000 as bulls failed to flip the level to support, while U.S. stocks rose after news of a U.S.-Iran meeting in Doha; analysts noted weak buyer conviction.
Bitcoin traded near $60,000 at Monday’s Wall Street open as bulls failed to flip the level back to support. U.S. stocks gained after U.S. President Donald Trump posted that Iran had “requested a meeting” in Doha, scheduled for Tuesday.
TradingView data showed an ongoing battle to regain the $60,000 mark while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite opened higher. Market participants described trading as defensive and range-bound at the start of the week.
QCP Capital cautioned that oil could act as a headwind for risk assets. The firm wrote that oil had “remained largely stable in the low $70s” and warned of “significant upside risk for oil prices should supply recovery prove slower than expected.” WTI crude briefly fell below $68 per barrel on Friday before moving back above $70.
Short-term traders reported choppy price action around the previous June lows. Trader Daan Crypto Trades posted that Bitcoin was “chopping around in this range at the previous June lows” and that the “~$60K region keeps capping price,” noting nearby levels at $58,000 and $61,000.
Onchain analytics firm Glassnode said buyers “have so far lacked the conviction required to establish a sustained recovery, leaving price range-bound near local lows.” The firm reported persistent net selling in spot markets despite higher trading activity and noted a shift in supply toward more speculative holders, a dynamic that may increase price swings.
Participants warned that thinner liquidity and the fluid U.S.-Iran situation could keep volatility elevated in the near term. Traders pointed to the potential for sharp market moves if new information affects oil supply or the diplomatic outlook.
