Bitcoin ETFs extend four-day outflows as BTC falls under $65k
U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a fourth straight day of outflows totaling about $49.8 million as Bitcoin slipped below $65,000 and briefly hit roughly $63,100.
U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs posted a fourth consecutive session of net outflows, with investors withdrawing about $49.8 million on Thursday. The outflows came as Bitcoin fell below $65,000 and briefly dropped to roughly $63,100.
Over the four trading sessions, the funds recorded net outflows of about $526 million. Data from SoSoValue show the largest single-day withdrawals on July 24 and July 23, at roughly $240 million and $225 million, respectively. The single-session outflow of $49.8 million coincided with Bitcoin reaching its lowest level since July 17 before recovering slightly.
CoinGecko showed Bitcoin trading near $64,371 at the time of publication, up about 2.7% over the past seven days. Cumulative net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs remained about $51.3 billion, and total net assets stood near $77.2 billion as of July 28. The recent outflow streak followed a seven-day inflow run that brought almost $1 billion into the funds.
CryptoQuant community analyst Darkfost wrote that Bitcoin’s return to a bullish trend would require renewed demand and improving market conditions. Darkfost also noted a sharp drop in spot trading volumes, saying Binance reported roughly $35 billion in July spot volume compared with about $246 billion in November 2024.
The large withdrawals on July 23 and July 24 accounted for most of the $526 million decline in ETF holdings over the four-day stretch. The data show short-term ETF flows moved in line with price swings around the $65,000 level.
