Binance CFO Kaiser Ng to Leave; Successor Named

Binance CFO Kaiser Ng is leaving after more than five years to pursue a new venture. Justin Yek, formerly Airwallex’s vice president of finance, will replace him.

Kaiser Ng is leaving Binance to pursue a new venture after more than five years at the cryptocurrency exchange. Justin Yek, formerly Airwallex’s vice president of finance, will replace him, according to a statement published Nov. 7.

In the statement, Binance co-CEO Yi He described Ng’s departure as a personal decision. Binance has carried out a transition plan over the past six months.

Ng’s LinkedIn profile lists him as Binance’s chief financial officer since January 2022. Before joining Binance, he spent about five years as chief financial officer of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken.

Yek previously held the position of vice president of finance at Airwallex.

The announcement came more than a week after a reported $6.3 billion theft from Binance on Oct. 29. The reported theft was the largest cryptocurrency theft on record.

Binance said it would absorb the losses rather than pass them to customers. The FBI and several researchers have attributed the attack to North Korean hackers. North Korea has denied the allegation.
