Binance: $300M Compliance Budget Blocked $10.53B in Fraud

Binance reports a $300 million annual compliance budget, about 1,500 compliance staff, and systems that intercepted $10.53 billion in potential fraud from 2025 through Q1 2026.

Binance reported it spends about $300 million a year on compliance and that roughly 1,500 employees-about one in four staff-work in safety and oversight roles. The exchange’s monitoring systems intercepted $10.53 billion in potential fraud, scams and anomalous activity between 2025 and the end of March 2026.

Compliance functions include investigations, fraud prevention, asset recovery, law-enforcement support and user protection. The firm estimates it spends roughly $50,000 per compliance employee each year.

Binance’s internal analysis shows about 0.22% of assets held are allocated to compliance work, versus roughly 0.14% across the broader financial industry, a relative increase the company estimates at about 57% higher than typical peers.

To bolster detection, the exchange increased investment in artificial intelligence, using more than $3 million in compute during the first five months of 2026 for tools to flag suspicious behavior, identify emerging threats and support investigations. Binance reported that addresses interacting with the platform made up about 0.018% to 0.023% of total transaction volume as of June 2025.

On asset recovery, Binance reported recovering about $114 million tied to external hacks and security incidents in 2025 and another $60.2 million in 2026 to date, for more than $174 million in recoveries from external attacks. The exchange also said it helped users reclaim $8.2 billion in mis-sent assets across 1.28 million appeals in 2025.

The company has provided support for 313,653 law-enforcement requests to date, including 72,632 requests handled in 2025 and 36,235 requests through June 2026. Assistance has included blockchain analysis, cross-platform coordination and rapid incident response while maintaining legal safeguards for users.

Binance presented these figures as part of broader efforts to prevent scams, support law enforcement and protect users. The figures and descriptions were provided by the company.
