AI frogs turn Brazilian nursery rhyme into 1950s blues

TikTok account IABatida reworked the Brazilian nursery rhyme “O Sapo não lava o pé” as a 1950s-style blues performed by AI-generated frogs; the video has more than 1.5 million likes.

TikTok account IABatida posted a video this week that reimagines the Brazilian nursery rhyme “O Sapo não lava o pé” as a 1950s-style blues number performed by AI-generated frogs. The clip pairs gravelly vocals, warm guitar and stand-up bass with retro lighting and period-style visuals, and the post is labeled as AI-generated. The TikTok version has more than 1.5 million likes and a YouTube Shorts copy has also attracted views.

IABatida specializes in running children’s songs and pop classics through generative AI to recreate them as recordings from earlier musical eras. The account has about 328,000 followers and roughly 6.7 million total likes. A 1950s Motown-style cover of “Baby Shark” on the channel has about 1.6 million likes, and an indie-rock take on the same song has nearly 389,000 likes. The account’s catalog includes reworkings of “Arabian Nights” from Aladdin and the Brazilian children’s song “Pintinho Amarelinho.”

The frog performance is staged to resemble a smoky lounge. Visuals show four frog musicians under retro lighting. The arrangement includes a clear chorus, a restrained solo and a bridge. The post’s caption and on-screen labels identify the audio and imagery as AI-generated.

Viewer responses from Brazil and elsewhere included the comment “This should not work, but it does.” Other reactions noted that the audio and visuals feel polished and that the tune is catchy.

The clip is part of a larger set of online trends that use text, image and audio generation tools. Recent advances in music models and audio software can produce structured multi-minute songs from short prompts, while image and video generators can render stylized characters and era-appropriate lighting without manual 3D modeling. Creators combine those tools to produce short covers and reinterpretations that resemble traditional studio recordings.

IABatida’s postings show multiple retro-style reinterpretations released over time, with new covers appearing in the account’s feed.
