The Exactly Protocol has suffered a hacking attack. Running on the Optimism blockchain, this lending DeFi platform was targeted by malefactors who stole over 4300 ETH, totaling approximately $7.3 million.
Both BlockSec and Beosin security agencies have corroborated the theft. The hackers reportedly found and exploited a weak point in the platform's smart contracts, although the finer details are still under wraps.
UPD: The team at Exactly Protocol would declare a $700,000 reward for any leads on the hacker, should they not receive a response from the malefactor by the end of August 22nd.
"You can return the funds, minus a 10% fee to you, without worries about us coming after you," the Exactly team conveyed in their message.
A user fell victim to a 'Zero Transfer Phishing' scam, losing $20 million USDT. These malicious parties imitated a few characters in the wallet address to deceive the unsuspecting victim. Fortunately, Tether reacted swiftly and froze the assets in just 50 minutes.Always stay vigilant when copying wallet addresses from transaction records.Scammers create custom smart contracts to generate look-alike addresses and dupe potential victims.

Arthur Hayes, Maelstrom CIO and ex-BitMEX CEO, argues that AI-powered Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) will revolutionize economic entities, making traditional structures obsolete due to their reliance on human labor and state-enforced contracts.
He asserts AI DAOs, unfettered by physical forms and therefore state laws, will use smart contracts on public blockchains for self-governance and service provision.
Hayes predicts that DAO capital markets will become the first genuinely global markets and decentralized exchanges will naturally monopolize the trading of DAO-issued tokens.
Hayes sees a future trillion-dollar AI-powered economy that would significantly boost the value of blockchains like Ethereum. Citi's Token Service and the Future of Banking
Traditional Finance (TradFi) is experiencing a surge of transformative trends. Following the footsteps of other major entities in the sector, Citibank is embracing blockchain technology. With the innovative Citi Token Service and smart contracts, this banking behemoth is aiming to enhance the transparency and efficiency of its services.
The Optimism Governance has announced a direct distribution of unclaimed tokens from the inaugural airdrop. They aim to distribute (if not already done) 48 million OP across over 88,000 distinct addresses. This accounts for about 25% of all the addresses originally qualified to receive tokens. This decision was made to allow the team to shift their focus to other endeavors related to smart contracts and upcoming airdrops.
Quantstamp, a blockchain security firm, has introduced the Economic Exploit Analysis tool designed to detect potential flash loan attack vulnerabilities in smart contracts.
While it can analyze multiple contracts from various DeFi protocols, some manual adjustments are needed for specific protocols.
Flash loan attacks, which have drained about $200 million in the Euler Finance exploit alone, are a growing concern in DeFi.
Aptos Labs is set to work with Microsoft to infuse its blockchain products, including fresh developments, with artificial intelligence.
Aptos Assistant, a chatbot, is one such innovation that educates users about the Aptos ecosystem and assists developers in crafting smart contracts and decentralized apps.
A 15% rise in the APT token's value followed the announcement of the collaboration. Immunefi: The Platform for White Hat Hackers
Immunefi, introduced to the world by Mitchell Amador in 2020, is a high-ranking platform within the realm of cryptocurrency bug-bounty operations. This dynamic initiative brings white hat hackers into play, hosting contests that allow them to unearth flaws in various blockchain projects and their corresponding smart contracts.
Polygon Labs has announced plans for a new, more decentralized governance model as part of its upcoming Polygon 2.0 roadmap.
The team has proposed "three governance pillars" that will manage the core protocol, smart contracts, and a community treasury.
Key features include an expanded Polygon Improvement Proposal (PIP) framework, an ecosystem council to manage system smart contract upgrades, and a two-phase community treasury governance model to fund promising projects. Introducing a New Solution for DeFi Protocol Protection
In a bid to shield the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) ecosystem from security breaches, a collective of Ethereum enthusiasts has put forward a novel standard named ERC 7265. The standard would integrate a "circuit breaker" functionality into DeFi smart contracts, empowering them to promptly halt token transactions in the face of a hack or security anomaly. Keep Network: An Overview of the Privacy-Focused Infrastructure
Keep Network serves as a platform for storing encrypted private data on a public blockchain. The system comprises off-chain data containers known as "keeps". This groundbreaking infrastructure opens the door for developers to design fully private dApps and smart contracts.
