Vitalik Buterin calls for building open digital infrastructure
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has called for the creation of digital infrastructure built on openness and verifiability. In an essay published on Sept. 24, Buterin warned that closed systems lead to abuse, monopolies, and the erosion of public trust. 
Ethereum validator exit queue may grow to 1.6M ETH
The Ethereum validator exit queue could soon jump to 1.63M ETH, according to ValidatorQueue. The trigger was Kiln Finance’s announcement that it is beginning an “orderly exit” of all its validators following an incident involving its partner SwissBorg. 
Upbit launches 'Giwa' Ethereum layer-2 on testnet at UDC 2025
South Korea's largest crypto exchange Upbit unveiled Giwa, an Ethereum layer-2 network, during its annual developer conference UDC 2025 in Seoul on September 9. The event focused on blockchain development and Web3 infrastructure. The company launched Giwa's public testnet the same day. 
Tom Lee (BitMine): Ethereum is Wall Street’s blockchain of choice
At Korea Blockchain Week’s Impact conference, BitMine chairman Tom Lee called Ethereum a “truly neutral chain” that Wall Street will favor, adding that the White House and Congress are leaning toward it under the current administration. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin pushed back on claims that Base’s centralized sequencer makes it akin to an exchange, calling the Coinbase L2 an extension of Ethereum that uses some centralized features for UX while relying on Ethereum’s decentralized base layer for security. He said Base is non‑custodial and pointed readers to L2BEAT’s standards and prior field tests.
