Trump to keynote Mar-a-Lago memecoin gala for top holders

The White House confirmed President Donald Trump will deliver a keynote address at a gala luncheon for top holders of the Official TRUMP memecoin at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, April 25. The event is limited to the top 297 token holders, and the 29 largest holders qualify for a private reception with the president.

Organizers behind the Official TRUMP token are hosting the luncheon at Mar-a-Lago and described the gathering as exclusive to token holders. Event terms circulated by the organizers state the president “may not be able to attend” and that the event “may be canceled for any reason,” but the White House has indicated Trump will appear and deliver the keynote address.

A White House official earlier noted the event was not locked into the president’s schedule and pointed out it coincides with the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C., an event Trump has said he would attend for the first time as president.

The gala has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers who say offering access to the president in connection with a commercial token could raise ethical questions. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal and Adam Schiff sent a letter to Bill Zanker, the individual behind the memecoin, asking whether the event effectively “dangles access” to President Trump for potential attendees. The senators wrote:

[O]rganizers are promoting a conference by dangling access to President Trump to potential attendees (and in doing so, are encouraging purchases of his meme coin that will generate transaction fees for the President and his family) on a day he may not actually be able to attend.

Supporters of the luncheon describe it as a private, token-holder gathering tied to ownership stakes in the memecoin. Critics pointed to an earlier event for TRUMP token holders at a Trump golf club in May 2025, which drew criticism from observers who said that gathering blurred lines between official duties and private financial interests. The upcoming Mar-a-Lago luncheon will be the second event tied to the token.

Organizers have emphasized the limits on attendance and the exclusive nature of the invitation list. The White House confirmation does not detail the substance of Trump’s planned remarks or the format of the private reception for the top 29 holders. The event disclaimer that the president’s attendance is not guaranteed remains part of the organizers’ terms.
