Top 10 Public Firms Hold Over 1 Million Bitcoins
Ten public companies hold more than 1 million BTC combined as of July 25, 2026. Strategy leads with 843,775 BTC; miners’ stocks rose in 2026 while treasury-focused firms fell.
Ten publicly traded companies held a combined total of more than 1 million bitcoins as of July 25, 2026, with Strategy at the top of the list with 843,775 BTC, worth about $58 billion on that date. The remaining nine firms on the list held materially smaller positions: Twenty One Capital about 43,514 BTC, Metaplanet roughly 43,000 BTC, Mara Holdings 36,303 BTC, Bullish 24,300 BTC, Strive 19,921 BTC, SpaceX 18,712 BTC, Coinbase 16,492 BTC, Riot Platforms 15,680 BTC and Cleanspark 13,924 BTC.
Strategy, the company built by Michael Saylor around a corporate bitcoin treasury, funded purchases through debt and equity issuance. The company reported selling 32 BTC in late May 2026 to fund preferred stock dividend payments and another 3,588 BTC between late June and early July for stock-related obligations and to add cash to its balance sheet. Even after those sales, Strategy remained the largest corporate holder by a wide margin.
Share-price performance diverged across the group in 2026. Companies that mine bitcoin recorded gains: Riot Platforms rose about 73% year to date, Cleanspark gained roughly 39% and Mara Holdings climbed about 31% through July 25, 2026. Several mining firms expanded capacity and added infrastructure such as data centers, battery storage projects and artificial intelligence-related facilities alongside mining operations.
Companies that hold bitcoin primarily as a treasury asset reported weaker stock results. Twenty One Capital, launched in March 2025, held about 43,514 BTC but its shares fell about 48% year to date; its founder departed the company in July 2026. Metaplanet, which pivoted from hotel development to a bitcoin treasury strategy, held about 43,000 BTC and saw its stock fall roughly 49% in 2026. Coinbase held 16,492 BTC and reported a share-price decline near 31% year to date. Bullish held 24,300 BTC and posted losses linked to negative equity while its stock fell about 37%, and Strive held 19,921 BTC with shares down about 24% through July 25.
SpaceX disclosed an 18,712 BTC holding in its June 12, 2026 IPO filing. The company raised roughly $85.7 billion in an IPO priced at $135 per share; shares opened at $150, peaked above $225 on June 16 and were trading near $115 on July 24, about 15% below the offering price.
The combined bitcoin holdings of these ten companies exceeded the bitcoin reserves reported by most national governments. The holdings and recent transactions cited above are drawn from company disclosures and holdings compiled as of July 25, 2026.
