Tempo launches private Zones for stablecoin payroll

Tempo launched Zones, private execution environments on Tempo Mainnet that let enterprises and financial institutions process stablecoin payroll and treasury settlements with transaction-level privacy. Zones create parallel private chains where transactions do not expose payment amounts or counterparty details on public ledgers.
Zones run as segregated execution layers connected to Tempo Mainnet. An enterprise or an infrastructure provider can operate a Zone. Inside a Zone, the zone operator can view all activity, individual users see only their own records, and anyone outside the Zone sees only cryptographic proofs that transactions are valid.
Funds used inside a Zone are locked in a zone contract on Tempo Mainnet and can be withdrawn only by the asset owner. That design lets operators sequence and process transactions while preventing them from moving users’ assets.
Tempo created Zones to address privacy gaps that have limited stablecoin use in corporate finance. Public blockchains typically broadcast every transaction, which would reveal payroll amounts, merchant volumes and bank settlement details. Existing alternatives include pseudonymous chains that allow identity linking, advanced cryptography approaches that require specialized tooling, and private permissioned ledgers that fragment liquidity.
Every token issued on Tempo supports issuer-defined rules such as allowlists, blocklists and freeze capabilities. Those rules apply automatically across Zones: when an issuer updates a blocklist or freezes a token on Mainnet, connected Zones enforce the change without separate configuration. Tempo Mainnet cryptographically verifies that transactions are valid and that compliance rules were enforced inside a Zone.
Tempo will roll out Zones through phased production deployments. Design partners are building payroll, treasury and tokenized deposit workflows now. Payroll is among the first production use cases: an employer can onramp funds to Tempo Mainnet, place payroll funds into a Zone, pay employees and contractors inside the private environment, and recipients can withdraw back to Mainnet for swaps or off-ramps. The company made Zones available to design partners.
