Strategy Buys $1B in Bitcoin as Aave DAO Grants $25M

Strategy bought 13,927 BTC for about $1 billion, raising holdings to 780,897 BTC; Aave DAO approved $25 million in stablecoins and 75,000 AAVE for Aave Labs.

Michael Saylor’s Strategy bought 13,927 Bitcoin for about $1 billion between April 6 and April 12, according to a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The purchases averaged $71,902 per coin, below the company’s average acquisition cost of $75,577. Strategy’s holdings rose to 780,897 BTC, acquired at a total cost of roughly $59.02 billion, leaving 19,103 BTC needed to reach 800,000 coins.

Company disclosures and a social media chart from Michael Saylor show more than 100 prior acquisitions since 2020. Strategy has acquired over 107,000 BTC so far this year, according to its public disclosures and filings.

Aave’s decentralized autonomous organization approved the “Aave Will Win” framework in a governance vote that passed with nearly 75% support. The framework allocates $25 million in stablecoins and 75,000 AAVE tokens to Aave Labs, the protocol’s core development team. The stablecoin funding will be paid in installments over 12 months, and the 75,000 AAVE will vest linearly over four years. Additional growth and development grants tied to specific product launches will require separate governance proposals.

Aave Labs will use the funding to support development and scaling work on the Aave protocol, and the token allocation is intended to serve as long-term incentives for contributors. On-chain metrics show Aave’s total value locked remains above $25 billion.

Market analyst Nic Puckrin described the week-old Bitcoin recovery as fragile and warned that geopolitical fallout from the conflict in the Middle East could influence markets through 2026. He projected that interest-rate cuts are unlikely before late Q3 or Q4, if they occur at all. Puckrin added that a weekly close above $71,000 could point to further upside for Bitcoin, while resistance is forming near $74,000. Recent consumer price data showed an uptick in inflation, which has reduced expectations for near-term interest-rate cuts.

The Strategy purchases are recorded in the SEC filing, which details transaction dates, quantities and cost basis. The Aave allocations and their payment and vesting schedules are listed on the protocol’s governance dashboard as approved by token holders.
