Startale Adds Sunnyside Privacy Boost to Soneium App
Startale integrated Sunnyside Labs’ Privacy Boost into its Startale App for Soneium, adding self-custodial shielded balances, private P2P transfers and an Audit View.
Startale Group on Tuesday integrated Sunnyside Labs’ Privacy Boost into its Startale App for Soneium, a blockchain network linked to Sony. The integration adds self-custodial shielded balances, private peer-to-peer transfers and an Audit View that allows authorized operators to review shielded transaction records for compliance.
With shielded balances, users retain control of their private keys while transaction details remain hidden from the public ledger. Private peer-to-peer transfers let users move funds on the Soneium network without exposing transaction data on-chain. Startale characterized the addition as a consumer-facing privacy layer for the Soneium ecosystem.
Audit View is a selective-audit feature that keeps transaction details out of public view but grants access to approved service operators for compliance checks. Taem Park, Sunnyside Labs co-founder and CEO, explained that selective auditability allows compliance teams to inspect transactions without revealing all user activity publicly, aligning the tool more closely with traditional financial compliance processes.
The system depends on cryptographic protections to conceal data from the public blockchain and on Sunnyside’s access controls and governance to determine when shielded records can be disclosed to authorized parties. Control over operator-level visibility therefore rests on both the cryptography and the policy and systems that manage Audit View access.
Other networks use similar selective-disclosure methods. Zcash supports selective disclosure through viewing keys, and Secret Network implements encrypted viewing credentials tied to private contract data. A Feb. 19 report from blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs said viewing keys can offer strong privacy but limited compliance utility for high-value transfers, rapid fund movements and system-wide monitoring.
Startale stated that Privacy Boost will enable private payment flows on Soneium while preserving routes for operator compliance review. The integration arrives as developers build tools to give users greater control over which on-chain activity is visible while maintaining mechanisms for regulatory inspection.
