Startale Adds Sub-500ms On-Chain Privacy on Soneium

Startale Group on April 28 selected Sunnyside Labs’ Privacy Boost to add native on-chain privacy to the Startale app running on Sony’s Soneium blockchain. The integration enables shielded asset transfers with proof generation in under 500 milliseconds and throughput above 1,800 transactions per second, the companies said.

Privacy Boost will be deployed directly on Soneium and embedded into the consumer-facing Startale app, which offers asset management, payments, mini apps and ecosystem rewards. The protocol’s smart contracts and trusted execution environment (TEE) infrastructure will operate on the Sony-developed chain, making private-transfer functions available as native calls for app developers.

The system combines zero-knowledge proofs with TEEs to produce fast cryptographic proofs and to support high transaction rates on Soneium. The stack includes mechanisms for selective auditability, allowing specific compliance checks without exposing all transaction details.

Within the Startale app, users will be able to move assets into private pools, perform shielded transfers and use privacy-preserving payment flows intended for future crypto card spending and other payment scenarios. Startale said it will expand private payment flows and mini apps as more features are added to the ecosystem on Soneium.

“Not every transaction needs to be private, but every user should have the choice,” Sota Watanabe, chief executive of Startale Group, commented. Taem Park, co-founder and chief executive of Sunnyside Labs, added that Privacy Boost was built for consumer-scale use cases and emphasized payments and mini apps as primary targets.

The integration represents Privacy Boost’s first deployment into a consumer crypto platform. Developers on Soneium will be able to call the protocol’s private-transfer functions directly as the Startale app and its ecosystem features expand.
