Robinhood and dYdX Relaunch DEX as Arcus on Robinhood Chain
Robinhood and dYdX Labs rebranded the dYdX DEX as Arcus and launched it on Robinhood Chain, offering perpetual contracts and fee-free trading of 95 tokenized stocks.
Robinhood and dYdX Labs announced on X that the dYdX decentralized exchange has been rebranded as Arcus and will launch on Robinhood Chain, the company’s Arbitrum-based layer-2 blockchain that went live the same day. Arcus is scheduled to go live on the network this month and will offer perpetual contracts and fee-free trading in 95 tokenized stocks. The protocol will allow tokenized shares to be used as collateral for perpetuals and plans to provide access to pre‑IPO markets. The dYdX Foundation noted that dYdX Labs developed Arcus in partnership with Robinhood and emphasized that the existing dYdX blockchain will continue to operate independently and remain community owned. In a blog post, Arcus wrote: “Until now, traders have been shut out of the most valuable markets on earth — US equities, commodities, and indices — because of where they live, market hours, and institutions restricting access.” The post added the platform is intended to reduce those barriers. Robinhood Crypto, the firm’s crypto technology arm, invested in Arcus; financial terms were not disclosed. Several ecosystem participants signaled early support for Robinhood Chain. Bitget Wallet will integrate the chain to enable its users to trade tokenized stocks, and the decentralized exchange 1inch plans to be among the first major swap platforms to support the network. Perpetual trading has increased in popularity among retail crypto traders; for example, the token for the perpetual futures platform Hyperliquid has risen nearly 150% this year. The launch places Arcus as an on‑chain venue for perpetuals and tokenized equity access while dYdX Labs continues to operate the original dYdX network on separate infrastructure.
