Polymarket Launches Gold and Silver Prediction Markets
Polymarket has launched 15-minute up-or-down markets for gold and silver, its first contracts outside crypto. Chainlink provides the pricing data for settlement.
Polymarket’s new contracts let traders take positions on whether gold or silver will finish a rolling 15-minute period above or below the price recorded at the period’s start. The markets are now live, according to Polymarket.
Chainlink supplies the reference prices through its Data Streams service and Chainlink Runtime Environment. The data determines the outcome of each contract.
The launch expands a partnership that the companies said has supported more than $11 billion in trading volume across Polymarket’s five- and 15-minute crypto price markets. Those markets include assets such as Bitcoin and Ether. Chainlink began providing oracle services for Polymarket markets in 2025.
Polymarket said additional markets based on commodities, equities and foreign exchange are planned. The companies did not provide a timetable for those products.
“Polymarket traders are some of the most connected in the world,” Neal Kumar, Polymarket’s chief legal officer, said in a statement. “With Chainlink 24/7, they can now take positions in a growing number of equity, commodity, and FX markets at all times.”
Kumar added that Chainlink’s data would support the launch and settlement of markets at scale. Johann Eid, Chainlink’s chief business officer, said the pricing service was built to provide the speed and accuracy needed for markets based on traditional assets.
The contracts offer short-term exposure to price direction. They do not provide ownership of gold or silver, physical bullion, custody rights or a long-term claim on either metal. Tokenized gold trackers showed spot prices near $3,980 an ounce on Oct. 31, according to the source data.
Polymarket US operates as a designated contract market regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission under the Commodity Exchange Act. The contracts still depend on Chainlink’s data to determine settlement outcomes.
Chainlink’s LINK token traded near $11.59 on Oct. 31, up about 4.9% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko data. Bitcoin was roughly unchanged near $77,460, while Solana fell about 0.7%. LINK traded between approximately $10.91 and $11.72 during that period.
The more than $11 billion in volume cited by the companies covers activity in Polymarket’s crypto markets. It does not represent the value of the new gold and silver contracts. LINK’s market capitalization was about $8.9 billion in the source data.
Polymarket’s short-term markets rely on Chainlink as their oracle provider, meaning the network supplies the external price data used to determine outcomes. A pricing error or dispute over a settlement could affect the markets as Polymarket adds more asset classes.
