Oobit adds Pix, opens USDT to 170M Brazilians

Oobit integrated Brazil’s Pix, letting users deposit reais via Pix and receive USDT in its mobile app. The integration reaches about 170 million Pix users.

Oobit announced on Tuesday that it has integrated Brazil’s instant payments network Pix. The integration lets Brazilian users transfer reais from their bank with Pix and receive USDT in Oobit’s mobile wallet without switching apps. Deposits appear as USDT balances that users can spend or hold.

Oobit described the connection as native, meaning the transfer completes within the standard Pix flow while blockchain processes run in the background. The company also operates a payments card and reports that the card and payments integrations support frequent use of USDT balances.

The launch follows a $25 million funding round led by Tether with participation from Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated, “breaking down barriers and facilitating frictionless transactions for crypto holders worldwide.” Oobit advisor Alex Obchakevich noted, “The blockchain runs in the background, while the experience is identical to the Pix flow Brazilians already know from every banking app. No new interfaces, no conversion delays.”

Oobit reported that activity in Brazil has grown more than 200% since it began operating there. The company reported active users spend more than $400 per month on average and make about 20 transactions each month, figures it attributes to its card and payments integrations. Oobit identified Brazil as a primary market for its Latin American expansion.

Pix was created by Brazil’s central bank and is used by an estimated 170 million people, roughly 93% of the country’s adult population. Pix is integrated across banking apps in Brazil; the Oobit integration lets users move funds between traditional bank rails and USDT balances while staying within the same Pix user flow.
