MetaMask Co-Founder Dan Finlay Leaves ConsenSys

Dan Finlay, a co-founder of the MetaMask wallet, left ConsenSys after ten years with the Ethereum-focused software company. ConsenSys builds developer tools and infrastructure for the Ethereum network.

Finlay helped develop MetaMask, the browser extension and mobile wallet that lets users manage Ethereum accounts and connect to decentralized applications. He spent his time at ConsenSys working on the wallet and related Ethereum tooling.

ConsenSys was founded to support Ethereum developers and enterprises and has incubated multiple products used across the blockchain sector. MetaMask became a primary user-facing interface for services built on Ethereum, including decentralized finance platforms and nonfungible token marketplaces.

Finlay confirmed his departure in a public statement but did not provide a timeline for his next steps. The announcement did not indicate whether he will continue contributing to MetaMask or other open-source projects independently.

His exit follows a period of reorganization and product development at several firms in the industry. ConsenSys and MetaMask did not announce any operational changes linked to his departure.

MetaMask continues to support account management, token transfers and connections with decentralized exchanges and wallets. ConsenSys continues to operate developer platforms, enterprise services and client applications tied to Ethereum infrastructure.

In his message, Finlay thanked colleagues and contributors and encouraged continued community participation in the open-source projects he helped build.
