Meta raises Quest VR prices $50-$100 amid chip shortage
Meta will raise Quest headset prices $50–$100 on April 19. Quest 3S will be $349.99 (128GB) and $449.99 (256GB); Quest 3 512GB will be $599.99.
Meta will raise prices on its Quest virtual-reality headsets by $50 to $100 starting April 19. The company lists the Quest 3S at $349.99 for 128GB and $449.99 for 256GB, while the higher-capacity Quest 3 with 512GB will retail for $599.99.
Meta wrote in its announcement that higher component costs have driven the change, pointing to a “global surge in the price of critical components, specifically memory chips.” “We’re making this change because the cost of building high-performance VR hardware has risen significantly,” the company added.
The increases apply to new and refurbished units. New Quest 3S models rise $50 each to $349.99 (128GB) and $449.99 (256GB). Refurbished Quest 3S headsets also increase $50, to $319.99 and $409.99 respectively. Refurbished Quest 3 units see a larger increase of $170, to $549.99.
Manufacturers have reported rising costs for DRAM and other memory components, and growing demand for AI computing infrastructure has tightened memory supply. Those constraints have contributed to higher prices and reduced inventory for smartphones, tablets and other portable devices.
Sony raised prices on the PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal earlier this year, and Microsoft increased Xbox console prices multiple times in 2025. Nintendo launched the Switch 2 at $450 last year.
Meta did not provide a timeline for when prices might return to previous levels or identify specific component suppliers tied to the increases.
