KuCoin EU Appoints AMLO, Expands AML Team
KuCoin EU named C. Kleinhans as Anti-Money Laundering Officer and appointed former Austrian FMA regulators Klinger and Träxler as deputy AMLOs to strengthen compliance under MiCAR.
KuCoin EU appointed C. Kleinhans as Anti-Money Laundering Officer and added Klinger and Träxler as deputy AMLOs, expanding its anti-money laundering team in Vienna. The appointments were announced in April 2026 by KuCoin EU Exchange GmbH, the Vienna-headquartered entity authorized as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR).
Kleinhans will lead the platform’s AML, counter-terrorist financing and sanctions functions. Her responsibilities include designing and implementing risk-based frameworks, overseeing enterprise-wide governance and managing regulatory engagement.
Before joining KuCoin EU, Kleinhans held senior compliance roles at European banks. She served as Head of Compliance, AML/CTF and Sanctions Officer at ICBC Austria Bank GmbH, where she established the bank’s compliance and AML program. Her background also includes regional compliance responsibility at Banco do Brasil AG and AML and sanctions roles at Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich Wien AG.
Klinger and Träxler join from Compliance Networks. Both previously worked as regulators at the Austrian Financial Market Authority and have served as chief compliance officers at international banks, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Klinger earlier led financial sanctions supervision for the Austrian banking industry while serving as Head of Legal at the Austrian National Bank.
The company said the expanded team will support the platform’s operational readiness and oversight of sanctions and financial crime risks across its regulated services. KuCoin EU Managing Director Sabina Liu commented that the appointments reflect the firm’s commitment to running compliant operations in Europe and to meeting MiCAR requirements.
KuCoin EU Exchange GmbH is authorized by the Austrian Financial Market Authority to provide regulated services across the European Economic Area, except Malta. The firm is approved to offer custody and administration of crypto-assets, crypto-fiat and crypto-crypto exchange services, the placing of crypto-assets and transfer services on behalf of clients. KuCoin EU clarified that it is not the operator of a crypto-asset trading platform and does not provide investment advice.
