Kiyosaki credits guru’s advice for shift to teaching finance

Robert Kiyosaki wrote that an Indian guru’s line — ‘your body’s mission is to fulfill your spirit’s mission’ — led him to quit manufacturing and teach lessons from his ‘rich dad.’

Robert Kiyosaki wrote on X on July 1 that advice from an Indian guru — ‘your body’s mission is to fulfill your spirit’s mission’ — prompted him to leave manufacturing and focus on teaching the financial lessons he learned from his ‘rich dad.’

He wrote that the sentence made him question whether making money was his true purpose and that, at the time, ‘my body was busy making money.’ He described the moment as a turning point that led to a reassessment of his work and life priorities.

He wrote that it took years to identify teaching as his spirit’s mission. Because he had failed and disliked school, becoming a teacher was unexpected. More than 50 years ago he left manufacturing and began explaining financial concepts he said were missing from standard schooling.

Kiyosaki began by offering lessons for free. Those efforts expanded into a multimillion-dollar business with an international audience, he wrote. He noted that some of his phrases, such as ‘Savers are losers’ and ‘Debt can make you rich,’ drew ridicule, but he continued teaching because schools did not cover how money works.

He asked readers to consider purpose by posing the questions ‘What does my heart want to do to serve humanity?’ and ‘What is your spirit’s mission?’ He framed teaching as the work that replaced his earlier focus on manufacturing.

Kiyosaki is the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. In recent posts he has warned of a possible market downturn and recommended holding assets such as gold, silver, bitcoin and ethereum, while saying he is waiting for lower prices before making additional purchases.
