Kiyosaki: Global economy ‘crashing’; calls US ‘bankrupt’

Robert Kiyosaki warned on X that the ‘global economy is crashing’ and called the U.S. ‘bankrupt,’ citing rising federal debt, China’s rise and AI-driven layoffs.

Robert Kiyosaki posted in July on X that the global economy is crashing and warned that many people could be financially wiped out. He described the United States as “bankrupt,” framing the comment as his personal assessment rather than a legal designation.

In a July 22 post he wrote, “Global economy is crashing … These are chaotic times in world history,” and urged followers to reassess their financial preparedness. He added that “in every crash many people are wiped out and a few people get richer,” and said people still have time to adjust their finances.

Kiyosaki highlighted U.S. government borrowing in posts this month, comparing federal debt before the 2008 crisis to current levels. He stated federal debt was about $9.5 trillion before 2008 and is nearly $39 trillion today, and claimed the government is adding roughly $1 trillion every 90 days. He linked ongoing borrowing and money creation to a potential loss of purchasing power for cash savings.

In a July 19 post he connected those fiscal concerns to geopolitical and technological trends. He wrote that the rise of China and job losses from artificial intelligence are accelerating financial strain, and described the period ahead as one of severe turbulence for money markets.

As a response to the risks he describes, Kiyosaki said he holds precious metals and cryptocurrencies. He reported owning silver since 1965, gold since 1971, bitcoin since 2012 and ethereum since 2022. On July 25 he wrote that he stores his metals in Swiss vaults outside of Switzerland and presented a rationale that the U.S. has at times made owning gold illegal and confiscated it from private citizens.

Kiyosaki is the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad and Rich Dad’s Prophecy. He told followers that readers who followed advice from his earlier work entered the current period in a stronger financial position.
