Dogecoin Partners Donate 1M DOGE to AKC Humane Fund
MoonPay, Dogecoin Foundation and House of Doge gave 1 million DOGE (~$95,000) to the AKC Humane Fund; MoonPay will process future crypto donations.
On Monday MoonPay, the Dogecoin Foundation and House of Doge donated 1 million DOGE, roughly $95,000 at the time, to the AKC Humane Fund to support pet sheltering for domestic violence victims, stray dog rescues and veterinary care for families with financial need.
The donation will fund shelter assistance for people fleeing domestic violence who need help keeping or rehoming pets, rescue operations for stray dogs and medical treatment for pet owners who cannot afford care. The AKC Humane Fund provides grants and support for canine health, rescue and disaster relief across the United States.
MoonPay Commerce has been configured to accept Dogecoin donations for the AKC Humane Fund and can process other cryptocurrencies as well. MoonPay will provide the payments infrastructure the charity will use to receive ongoing crypto gifts without setting up separate payment systems.
The 1 million DOGE grant will be allocated to shelter and veterinary programs run or supported by the AKC Humane Fund.
House of Doge CEO Marco Margiotta framed the campaign as a way to connect the Dogecoin community with direct support for dogs: “By enabling Dogecoin-powered donations for a cause that directly supports dogs, we’re creating a meaningful connection between our community and making a real-world impact.”
MoonPay President Keith Grossman called the effort a milestone for crypto adoption: “We are proud to partner with the AKC and the Dogecoin Foundation to turn DOGE into real-world impact, powered by MoonPay Commerce.”
Dogecoin Foundation Director Tim Stebbing linked the donation to the token’s community focus: “Dogecoin has always been about community and doing good. Supporting dogs through the AKC Humane Fund is a natural extension of that ethos.”
Dogecoin was created as a joke in 2013 and remains the most prominent meme coin by market value. At the time of the donation the token traded around $0.095. The organizations said accepting crypto donations is intended to broaden giving options for supporters of Dogecoin and other digital assets.
The AKC Humane Fund plans to use the funds to help keep pets with families in crisis, assist shelters that take in strays and cover veterinary expenses for owners who lack the means to pay for treatment.
