Dapper Labs stops NFL All Day minting, signs NFL deal

Dapper Labs will stop primary issuance of NFL All Day NFTs under a new NFL licensing agreement; existing collectibles remain tradable and packs already bought can still be opened.

Dapper Labs announced Wednesday evening that it will stop primary issuance of NFL All Day NFTs under a new licensing agreement with the National Football League. The company confirmed no new NFL All Day Moments will be minted. Collectibles already on the platform will remain available for purchase and sale on the marketplace, and packs that have been bought can still be opened. Ownership of existing items remains permanent.

Roham Gharegozlou, CEO and Flow blockchain co-founder, posted on X that the company signed the licensing deal and will provide further details as the next season approaches. He wrote, “Today we are stopping primary issuance for our NFL All Day product, and announcing the signing of a new licensing agreement with the NFL. We will share details on this as the season approaches.” Gharegozlou also outlined two collector initiatives: a “Founding Collector” label for current holders and a 5% rebate credited to users’ Dapper balances on purchases, with the rebate releasing only after a purchased collectible has been held for one year.

Collectors posted criticism on social channels after the announcement, noting that marketplace offers remained active and some were accepted after the company’s post. A pseudonymous collector using the handle RJAnderson85 wrote that they “just saw on my phone I spent $400-$500 on worthless moments.” Dapper Labs did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Market activity increased after the announcement. Industry sales aggregators showed NFL All Day’s daily sales volume rose to nearly $32,000 on Wednesday and topped $53,000 on Thursday. The number of unique sellers on the platform rose from fewer than 100 the previous week to more than 400.

Dapper Labs, which operates other licensed sports-collectible platforms on the Flow blockchain, wrote that it is “hard at work on the next evolution of NFL digital collectibles” but provided few specifics about the retooled product. The company indicated the current Moments will remain a fixed supply on the marketplace until it shares further plans under the new licensing agreement.
