Crypto is most muted topic on X’s For You feed
X product head Nikita Bier posted that users most often use the 24-hour snooze on the For You feed to mute crypto, followed by politics and the Iran conflict.
Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, posted a ranking showing users mute crypto most often on the platform’s For You feed, with politics and the Iran conflict next on the list. The post accompanied the rollout of a 24-hour topic snooze and a custom timelines feature.
The snooze option hides selected topics from a user’s For You tab for 24 hours. X began releasing the feature to users as it made custom timelines available.
X’s internal ranking lists crypto first, followed by politics, the Iran conflict, sports, business and finance, gaming, artificial intelligence, science and technology, and entertainment.
Reactions on the platform varied. Some accounts posted memes in response to the ranking. Alexandre Lores, head of growth at OpenAssets, wrote on X, “No wonder my account interaction sucks. I only talk about 1-5!” Filmmaker Melissa Dykes posted on X suggesting a single filter that would let users hide all unwanted topics: “Or you could make it easier by just offering a single filter that allows someone to place themselves into a Truman Show-esque false reality of everything being totally awesome right now.”
Earlier this year X announced plans for “Smart Cashtags,” a feature to turn symbols like $BTC into links with live prices and charts. In April 2026 Bier outlined measures aimed at reducing crypto-related scams, including auto-locking accounts that suddenly begin posting about tokens. Bier is listed as an advisor to Solana and as a venture partner at Lightspeed Ventures.
Bier’s post noted that crypto content on X includes posts about prices, token launches and speculation appearing around the clock. The post also noted that users are using the snooze tool to hide a range of high-volume topics.
