Crypto group backs Senate and House candidates for 2026

Stand With Crypto, a crypto industry advocacy group launched by Coinbase in 2023, has endorsed candidates for the 2026 U.S. elections.

The organization endorsed Republican Jon Husted in Ohio, Republican Ashley Hinson in Iowa and Democrat Chris Pappas in New Hampshire for Senate. Husted is seeking to retain his seat against Democrat Sherrod Brown, who lost to Republican Bernie Moreno in 2024.

For the House of Representatives, Stand With Crypto endorsed Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa and Democrat Shomari Figures in Alabama. In August, the organization endorsed 32 House candidates it identified as supporters of digital asset policy.

The endorsements come while polls indicate that Democrats could regain control of the House and Senate in 2027. Changes in control of either chamber could affect legislation such as the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, also known as the CLARITY Act.

The bill passed the House with bipartisan support in 2025. On Sept. 15, it failed to receive enough votes for a cloture motion in the Republican-controlled Senate. After the vote, Stand With Crypto warned that lawmakers who opposed the bill could face political consequences.

Stand With Crypto was launched to advocate for what Coinbase described as clear regulations for the crypto industry. Its endorsements add to campaign spending by crypto companies and political action committees backed by the industry.

Fairshake, a political action committee backed largely by Coinbase, Ripple Labs and Andreessen Horowitz, pledged an initial $30 million to support Husted against Brown in Ohio. The group had spent $82 million on candidates nationwide as of June.
