AllUnity launches MiCA-regulated USD stablecoin USDAU

AllUnity launched USDAU, a US dollar-pegged stablecoin backed by segregated reserves, set to debut on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo, Arc and Polygon under EU MiCA rules.

AllUnity, a European stablecoin issuer, launched USDAU on Wednesday. The token is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar and is backed by segregated reserves held to support redemptions. USDAU will be issued on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo, Arc and Polygon.

AllUnity operates under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto‑Assets (MiCA) framework. USDAU is the company’s fourth fiat-backed stablecoin, joining EURAU (euro), CHFAU (Swiss franc) and SEKAU (Swedish krona). Market data shows EURAU’s market capitalization at roughly $400,000 and CHFAU’s at about $45 million.

Dollar-pegged tokens account for more than 99% of global stablecoin capitalization, around $291 billion. The European Central Bank warned in June that greater use of dollar stablecoins in European tokenized finance could deepen dependence on the US dollar and reduce the euro’s role.

Alexander Höptner, AllUnity’s chief executive, framed the issue as regulatory rather than purely monetary: ‘Europe’s concern isn’t with the dollar, it’s with dollar liquidity flowing through offshore issuers with no European supervisor, no enforceable redemption rights and no visibility into their reserves.’ He added that USDAU places dollar liquidity inside Europe’s regulatory perimeter and gives European companies access to dollars for trade and cross-border payments.

Under MiCA, stablecoin issuers in the EU are subject to oversight and capital and reserve requirements intended to protect investors and ensure redeemability. AllUnity’s segregated reserve structure is presented as a way to provide transparency and legal recourse for holders in the EU.

AllUnity did not disclose the initial size of the reserves backing USDAU or the specific custodians that will hold those funds. Regulators in Europe continue to debate technical MiCA details, including minimum deposits and redemption mechanisms, and USDAU becomes an additional MiCA-regulated dollar option while those policy discussions continue.
