CoreWeave to Run Anthropic’s Claude in Multi-Year Deal

CoreWeave announced Friday that it has a multi-year, phased agreement to host Anthropic’s Claude AI workloads in CoreWeave cloud data centers. CoreWeave said the work will be rolled out in stages and has the potential to expand over time.

Under the agreement, Anthropic will use CoreWeave’s specialized cloud computing facilities to host and process workloads for its Claude models. The companies did not disclose financial terms or a detailed rollout schedule.

CoreWeave’s stock rose more than 12% on the day of the announcement and was trading at $102.73 at the time of reporting. The pact follows CoreWeave’s $8.5 billion capital raise led by Meta Platforms, a financing that was collateralized against deployed computing capacity and predictable cash flows rather than graphics processing units.

CoreWeave began shifting away from cryptocurrency mining in 2019 and rebranded as an AI infrastructure provider after the 2018 crypto downturn. The new agreement continues the company’s focus on providing cloud compute for large-scale model training and inference.

Industry data show financial pressure on Bitcoin miners: asset manager CoinShares reported that as many as 20% of miners are operating at a loss. The October 2025 market crash pushed Bitcoin from about $126,000 to the low $60,000 range; prices have since stabilized near $73,000. Several miners have repurposed hardware or rented capacity to run AI workloads.

Some market participants recommended that crypto firms generate yield on holdings through decentralized finance to offset shrinking mining returns, while others advised shifting business models to cloud and AI compute services. Market analyst Ran Neuner commented, “Both industries compete for the same thing: electricity, and right now, AI is willing to pay much more for it.”

CoreWeave and Anthropic said the partnership could be scaled over time to meet Anthropic’s compute needs as Claude models are developed and deployed.
