Binance Reopens Bitcoin Withdrawals After $6.3B Hack

Binance has reopened Bitcoin withdrawals in the first phase of restoring services after a hack involving about $6.3 billion in funds.

Binance has reopened withdrawals on the Bitcoin network in the first phase of restoring services after a hack involving about $6.3 billion in funds.

The exchange suspended user withdrawals after the attack on Thursday. The FBI attributed the incident to North Korean operatives, according to Binance.

In a post on X, Binance identified the Bitcoin network as the first network available during phase one of the withdrawal reopening. The exchange plans to restore access in stages, with more assets and networks becoming available over time.

Binance is prioritizing tokens based on user demand during the past week. Each asset and network pair must pass stability and security checks before withdrawals resume.

Users can check the withdrawal page for their selected asset and network or use Binance’s network status page to confirm availability. The exchange warned that the phased reopening could lead to network congestion, longer processing times and temporary delays. Users whose withdrawals fail should try again later.

Before the reopening, Binance reported that it had replenished 90% of the assets stolen in the hack, up from 80% a day earlier. The exchange had expected to resume withdrawals during the weekend.
