Aurelion Locks $48M in Tether Gold Into XAUE Yield Protocol

Nasdaq-listed Aurelion allocated 10,000 units of Tether Gold (about $48 million) to XAUE, a new Aurise Foundation protocol that generates yield on tokenized gold.

Nasdaq-listed Aurelion has allocated 10,000 units of Tether Gold (XAUT), roughly $48 million, to XAUE, a protocol launched this week by the Aurise Foundation to generate yield on tokenized gold while maintaining exposure to the underlying bullion. The deposited XAUT is converted into XAUE tokens under the protocol’s fixed-supply model.

Aurelion, the rebrand of wealth and asset manager Prestige Wealth, made the allocation as part of a strategy to position Tether Gold as a primary reserve asset. Following the transfer, Aurelion will hold a total of 33,318 XAUT: 10,000 units deployed into XAUE and 23,318 units retained outside the protocol. In October 2025 the company completed a $150 million financing package that included a $100 million private investment in public equity and a $50 million debt facility to support the strategy.

XAUE operates on Ethereum and uses a fixed-supply conversion in which each 1,000 units of XAUT are converted into one XAUE token. The protocol applies yield-generating strategies such as institutional lending and quantitative trading. Instead of distributing interest separately, returns appear as an increase in the amount of gold backing each XAUE token, allowing reserves to grow while token supply remains unchanged.

Users may redeem XAUE for the underlying gold-backed tokens. Redemption and participation are restricted to whitelisted, KYC- and KYB-verified institutional participants in eligible jurisdictions, per the Aurise Foundation announcement. Seed commitments to the protocol included 16,052 XAUT, about $76 million, from ecosystem partners including digital asset financial services firm Antalpha.

The tokenized commodities sector is concentrated in gold-backed assets and is estimated at roughly $5.25 billion, with Tether Gold and Paxos Gold representing the largest shares. Recent market activity has included several yield-bearing products and on-chain strategies designed to generate returns from tokenized gold.
