Antony Mlelwa advocates responsible crypto adoption across Africa
Tanzanian educator Antony Mlelwa urges responsible cryptocurrency adoption across Africa, promoting financial education and risk awareness through DienAcademy workshops and international talks.
Antony Polycarp Mlelwa, a Tanzanian educator based in Dar es Salaam, is urging responsible cryptocurrency adoption across Africa. He outlined his position in July 2026 and has presented it at local and international events.
Mlelwa spoke at Crypto Expo Dubai 2025 and took part in the Corporate Blockchain Gala 2026 in Dar es Salaam. He is listed among speakers at Crypto Expo Dubai 2026, scheduled for Sept. 9-10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
He founded DienAcademy, which runs community workshops, online courses and public masterclasses on blockchain, cryptocurrencies, decentralized finance and digital entrepreneurship. The academy publishes materials in plain language and in Kiswahili to reach learners who lack technical resources.
Mlelwa began engaging with cryptocurrency in 2017 and later shifted from trading to education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, specializing in chemistry and biology, and earned a Certified Financial Educator credential from the Bank of Tanzania Academy. Since 2020 he has held a commercial and marketing role at Inkryptus Wallet, a crypto wallet that offers staking rewards through a referral-based independent business owner structure.
His teaching covers blockchain architecture, custody, token economics, governance and smart-contract risk. He pairs those topics with financial concepts such as volatility, liquidity, diversification and capital preservation so learners can link technical features to financial outcomes.
Mlelwa cautions that promotional material often emphasizes potential gains while downplaying risk. He urges individuals to take responsibility for secure custody, avoid excessive concentration and refrain from using borrowed funds for speculative positions.
He warns against narratives that promise guaranteed returns and notes rapid price increases do not prove a project’s long-term value. He highlights the potential for fraudulent schemes, misleading marketing and unsustainable structures to cause losses, especially for people with limited financial literacy.
On policy, Mlelwa argues models used in other markets should be adapted to local conditions. He calls for public discussion of taxation, consumer rights, cybersecurity and the practical limits of tokenization as markets move toward institutional adoption and regulated digital assets.
DienAcademy plans to expand programmes that connect traditional financial knowledge with blockchain technology and digital entrepreneurship. He describes his objective as enabling Africans to make informed choices about whether to participate in digital-asset markets.
