2015 Ethereum genesis wallet moves 790 ETH after 10.8 years
A genesis-era Ethereum address moved 790.174 ETH (about $1.78M) to a new wallet on May 13, 2026 after 10.8 years of inactivity.
A genesis-era Ethereum address transferred 790.174 ETH to a newly created wallet on May 13, 2026. The address, 0xed41e1a28f5caa843880ef4e8b08bd6c33141edf, received its balance in Ethereum’s genesis block on July 30, 2015 and had no outgoing transactions until the transfer.
At about 21:47 UTC the wallet executed a series of small test transactions, including dust amounts near 0.0000001 ETH, then sent 1 ETH followed by 789.17388714 ETH to 0x0b9bcde72cd4390a9f91f5f52a29e0535e695942, a fresh address with no prior history.
At the time of the transfers ETH traded near $2,257, valuing the moved funds at about $1,782,979. The allocation originated in the 2014 crowdsale when ETH sold for roughly $0.31, giving the initial stake a value near $244. The dollar value rose roughly 7,300-fold over the 10.8-year holding period. At Ethereum’s all-time high near $4,878 per ETH, the same stack would have been worth more than $3.85 million.
After the transfers the original address retained a small residual balance near 0.000024 ETH and minor legacy token holdings, including Livepeer (LPT) and OMG, which carry minimal fiat value.
At the time of reporting the moved funds remain in the new receiving wallet with no recorded outbound transfers or deposits to known exchange addresses.
Wallets funded during Ethereum’s 2015 pre-mine and initial coin offering are anonymous by design; analysts identify them by funding timestamps and distribution patterns rather than personal data. On-chain records show an uptick in activations of early ICO-era wallets during 2025 and 2026. A separate genesis-era address moved 10,000 ETH to a new address on April 28, 2026.
