Hong Kong Launches CBDC Program
In a substantial step forward for the worldwide implementation of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) unveiled its pilot program for the electronic Hong Kong dollar (e-HKD) on Thursday, explaining the digital currency's numerous possible applications in payments and tokenized deposits. 
Five more countries have abandoned CBDC
A growing number of countries seeking to introduce a central bank digital currency (CBDC) are abandoning the idea after conducting pilot projects. Either the use cases did not work or were recognized as inadvisable, or the CBDC did not receive support from citizens and businesses in certain countries.
