Zuckerberg pilots internal AI agent to run Meta more efficiently amid potential layoffs - GNcrypto

Mark Zuckerberg is piloting an AI agent to pull internal data and speed decisions at Meta as the company reviews workforce cuts that could reach up to 20%, according to people familiar.

Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly piloting an internal AI agent that pulls company data directly to assist with running Meta, part of a broader effort to raise efficiency with AI tools, according to reports.

People familiar with the matter indicate the CEO’s agent is already speeding up information retrieval by drawing answers from internal systems instead of routing requests through multiple layers of staff or teams. The program aims to increase productivity and cut friction across roughly 78,000 employees as Meta competes with AI-focused companies that operate with leaner teams.

Inside the company, employees have been testing agent-style tools, including MyClaw, which surfaces work files and chat logs and can interface with colleagues or their AI counterparts. Another internal tool, Second Brain, runs on Anthropic’s Claude model and is described internally as an “AI chief of staff” that helps accelerate project work, according to people who have used the tools.

Separate reports suggest Meta is reviewing an additional round of layoffs to offset costs and reflect efficiency gains from integrating AI across operations, people familiar with ongoing discussions indicated. Reductions of up to 20% are under consideration, though no date has been set and the scope remains undecided.

On an earnings call in late January, Zuckerberg projected that 2026 will be the year AI “starts to dramatically change” how Meta operates and pointed to possible changes to the company’s structure. “As we navigate this, our north star is building the best place for individuals to make a massive impact,” he noted. “So to do this, we’re investing in AI-native tooling so individuals at Meta can get more done, we’re elevating individual contributors, and flattening teams.” In February, Peter Steinberger, creator of open-source agent OpenClaw, said he received an acquisition offer from Meta.
