XRP ETFs listed on DTCC ahead of potential November launch

XRP ETFs appear on DTCC list - GNcrypto

Five spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been listed on the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) platform, indicating that major issuers may be preparing for a November launch.

The listings, first spotted this week, have sparked speculation across the crypto market about a new wave of digital asset ETFs beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The appearance of XRP funds on the DTCC platform is often viewed as a final step before approval and trading. DTCC oversees post-trade clearing and settlement for nearly all U.S. securities, and ETF issuers typically register products there once launches are close to completion. The current listings include funds from BlackRock, Fidelity, Invesco, VanEck, and Franklin Templeton — the same firms behind Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.

Each fund is structured as a “spot XRP trust,” offering direct exposure to XRP rather than derivatives or futures. The design mirrors Bitcoin ETFs, which track the spot price of BTC through custodial holdings rather than synthetic instruments.

The XRP community has been closely monitoring developments since the July 2023 court ruling that determined XRP is not a security when traded on secondary markets. The decision cleared the path for institutional participation and removed one of the main regulatory hurdles delaying ETF filings.

If approved, spot XRP ETFs would mark one of the most significant expansions of institutional crypto products since Bitcoin ETF approvals. XRP’s lower volatility compared to smaller altcoins and its established role in cross-border payments make it an appealing choice for diversified ETF portfolios.

While neither DTCC nor the SEC has confirmed a timeline, the listings suggest that administrative preparations are underway. With Bitcoin ETFs setting the precedent earlier this year, market participants now view XRP as the next likely candidate for institutional adoption.
