U.S. bars foreign access to Anthropic’s Fable 5, Mythos 5
U.S. ordered Anthropic to block foreign access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 over a reported jailbreak; Anthropic pulled both models worldwide as $2.87B flowed into decentralized AI tokens.
The U.S. government this week issued an export-control order requiring Anthropic to block foreign nationals from accessing its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models, citing a reported jailbreak vulnerability. Anthropic disputed the characterization and severity of the reported flaw but said it could not reliably distinguish foreign users from domestic users in real time. The company disabled both models worldwide and has not provided a timeline for restoration.
Roughly $2.87 billion flowed into cryptocurrencies tied to decentralized artificial intelligence over the seven days after the models were taken offline. Fifteen of the top 20 AI-related tokens posted weekly gains during that period.
Bittensor led the group, rising 34.17% to $263.74 for the week. Audiera posted a 223.13% weekly gain but fell 2.23% in the past 24 hours. Chainlink increased 6.45% to $7.98. NEAR Protocol rose 11.38% to $2.13. Internet Computer climbed 6.01% to $2.49. Render advanced 8.35% to $1.77. Venice Token gained 2.57% for the week and showed the strongest 24-hour move, up 15.81%. Virtuals Protocol traded at $0.64 after a 14.96% weekly rise. Injective was at $5.27 and Artificial Superintelligence Alliance at $0.21.
Decentralized AI tokens are digital currencies that operate on blockchain networks built to support AI workloads. They provide incentives for participants to contribute computing power such as GPUs, supply training data and develop or host models. These tokens also let automated agents hold wallets and execute smart contracts to pay for services without relying on a single cloud provider.
Anthropic is working with government counsel to find a compliance path that could allow limited service to resume, and the export-control order remains in effect while those discussions continue.
